The Evidence Standard
Fellowship is assessed against a published standard, not a general impression of merit. Applicants must present credible, independently verifiable evidence across at least three of six categories: Innovation and Adoption, Leadership and Responsibility, Research and Knowledge Advancement, Evaluation and Service to the Profession, Professional Recognition, and Impact Beyond the Employer.
Each category publishes both qualifying and generally-insufficient examples, so applicants and panelists work from the same document rather than a private internal standard. Meeting the three-category threshold establishes eligibility for review — it does not guarantee approval. The Panel evaluates the complete record as a whole, and job title, seniority, years of experience, membership, or payment of fees do not by themselves establish Fellowship.
Panel Independence
AIITE separates who decides Fellowship from who runs the Institute. The Administrative Team sets strategy, appoints Panelists, and maintains the published standard — but holds no vote on any individual application. Fellowship is determined solely by the independent Review Panel; Councils, formed from and led by Fellows, have authority over neither.
Each application goes to a freshly constituted panel of five panelists, so no standing group controls outcomes, and no single employer or organization may hold a majority of any panel's seats — a cap written into the Bylaws so that no one organization can shape a determination through composition alone. The Institute's own role ends at administration: it prepares files, distributes evidence, and records outcomes, and cannot overturn a panel's determination.
Recusal & Conflicts of Interest
Panelists must disclose any relationship with an applicant — employment, collaboration, supervision, a close personal relationship, or any commercial interest — and recuse themselves from that review. Disclosure and recusal are mandatory rather than discretionary, and every recusal is recorded; a recusal is a normal part of a working panel, not a mark against the panelist.
As a further safeguard, review assignments are never published in advance, so neither an applicant nor a panelist can select the other.
Supporter Requirements
Every Fellowship application requires two supporters, serving different roles: a professional verifier with direct, first-hand knowledge of the applicant's work, and an independent recognized expert outside the applicant's current employer who can assess the significance of what they did.
Neither may be a subordinate, a close relative, a paid application preparer, or anyone receiving a referral benefit, and AIITE may contact either supporter directly to confirm their statement.
Fee Structure & Safeguards
A $199 assessment fee is charged at submission and funds the Panel's review time — never an outcome. It is charged whether an application is approved or declined, and panelists are never compensated by outcome.
A separate $99 annual fee applies only once Fellowship is conferred, to keep the credential active; it is not a second assessment, and it is never charged to an unsuccessful applicant. The Bylaws also forbid creating any grade above or alongside Fellow that could be sold as an upgrade — together, these constraints are what keep the assessment fee from becoming a pay-for-recognition model.
Reconsideration Process
An unsuccessful applicant may request one reconsideration, heard by a newly constituted panel, without a further assessment fee. Beyond that single reconsideration there is no separate appeal process — but there is no restriction on submitting an entirely new application in a future cycle once additional evidence exists, subject to a fresh assessment fee for that new review.
Publication Commitments
AIITE undertakes to publish its eligibility categories, Panel biographies, and aggregate acceptance rate at least annually — whatever the figures show — beginning with the first completed review cycle. Conferred Fellows appear in the public Fellow Gallery. The roster and first acceptance figures follow the close of the inaugural review cycle.

Fellowship is a peer-assessed recognition of a record an applicant already holds. It does not qualify anyone to practice, is not awarded by examination, and does not replace a degree, a license, or a vendor certification. Satisfying the published evidence categories makes an applicant eligible for review; it does not guarantee approval, and Panel determinations are final. AIITE does not guarantee, and Fellow status does not itself constitute, any professional, immigration, employment, licensing, or legal outcome.
